Subject: Jacob's Letter
Thank you so much for all your prayers and support. So many will miss Jacob.
Please let me share Jacob's letter to me, Linda and Matt written a year and 8
month's before his passing. Please feel free to pass it on.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
The following letter was written by Jacob Bankston to his mom, dad and
brother after he learned that he was in endstage heart failure and had to
move from Baton Rouge, LA to Houston, TX and wait for a heart transplant.
Jacob was a second year student at LSU when he moved from Baton Rouge to
Houston. Jacob received the transplant April 28, 2000. Jacob stayed in the
St. Luke's hospital ICU 172 days and went through 14 surgeries during that
time.
Jacob's mom and dad lived with him in Houston till he died October 16,
2000. Matt, Jacob's brother stayed with friends in Baton Rouge for a little
while. Linda moved back to be with Matt in August of 1999 till just a week
before the transplant. Matt graduated, and is now a student at LA Tech.

Dear Mom, Dad, & Matt,
I have a hard time saying what I mean in person so I figured I'd write
it down. Isn't this information age/E-mail thing cool? Anyway, I just wanted
to tell you all that I appreciate your being there for me over the years. I
really could not have asked for a better, more loving family, Sure, we've all
made mistakes, but we are all new to this game...there is no trial round
before you are shot out into life. No one ever guaranteed that life was going
to be easy, nor did they guarantee that we wouldn't all have our share of
heartaches and blessings. My greatest blessing is the family I was raised in.
Dad, I understand that your main concern is for my salvation, and rest
assured that I will see you again in heaven. I might be a little bit jaded
because of all that life has dealt me, but that doesn't mean that there is no
grace in my life. I thank God for every day I have and will have until it is
over. Life hasn't exactly treated me with the ease and comfort hat some
people have. It is hared to stay focused on God when everything around you is
falling apart, but trust me, in the end I have decided to live my life for
the Lord. Maybe my idea of being a Christian differs from yours, but Jesus
said "If a man believes in his heart and confesses with his mouth, he is
saved." A lot of my animosity toward religion comes because I'm young, and
inexperienced. I'm just an angry young man trying to make do with what life
has dealt him. But I never fell away form God's calling on my life. You can
ask anyone who knows me, and they will tell you that I am the most generous
person they know. And not because I'm trying to gain "brownie points" with
God, but because it makes me feel good in my spirit to help someone else out.
It makes me feel good to feel their hurt and try to be empathetic. We have
that in common.
Mom, I know your're scared of what is coming up for me, and I am probably
more scared than you will ever be. Although I may not show it, I am very
afraid of the future. I don't want to leave you and the great family I have.
I remember sitting up till 3 AM with you, and thinking I was so big because I
was sitting up with my mom watching TV till all hours of the morning. That
made me feel so good. We were best friends at one point in life, I would love
to get back to that point with you. I love you mom.
Matt, where do I start? You are my brother, and we share the bond that
only brothers share. I know I'm hard on you sometimes, but that's just
because of two things. First being because I've made plenty of mistakes in my
life, and I want you to learn from them. Secondly because I am jealous of you
and always have been. You were born with a perfect body, and a very
intelligent mind. I never will be able to do the things that you do. Someday
soon, I hope to be able to go work out with you and hang out with you.
We've been through a lot together and we have a lot more to go through.
Just remember as we face this new challenge that I love you all, and I am
more than grateful for all the love and help you have given me throughout my
20 years.
Your loving, grateful son,
Jacob

Jacob is in the hospital due to a bacterial infection he developed over the
weekend. He will be there for about 10 days until the drugs have successfully
eliminated the infection. No transplant can be done while the infection is
present, therefore we need to pray for a speedy and complete recovery to good
heath.

line was reinstalled and he spent some time in recovery. He is resting now,
but in lots of pain. Targeted discharge is 12:00 noon tomorrow. Thanks to
everyone for their prayers for Jacob. We've been here since Feb 11, 1999.
Still waiting for a call for a transplant. He begins a job Thursday at 9:00
a.m. and is going to church Sunday with a friend he met a few weeks ago. Is
in good spirits. He also received his first correspondence back with an "A".
He was pleased and ready to send in the remaining lessons now. Thanks, Joel

He is feeling well, expected to be out today but that did not occur. Before he
can leave, they need to re-install a double pic line that continuously feeds 2
drugs into his system. That procedure was scheduled today, but he was given
the blood thinner medicine thus preventing the installation of the line.
Hopefully, all is correctly lined up for tomorrow. Joel asks that we pray for
the successful installation of the line and his discharge from the hospital
tomorrow.

The following note was written to Joel by Carrie, on March 20, 2004. She had signed the guest book and Joel
asked how she knew Jacob. This is her reply.
Dear M.r Bankston, thanks for writing me. this is Carrie Scott, I live in Houston (lived in League City at the
time) Jacob and I dated for a bit in '99 (I believe I'm the breakup referred to in the 12/01/99 email) I spent
that thanksgiving afternoon with yall and Jacob came to dinner at my parent's place and to my cousin's
wedding the following day with me. After the breakup we tried to stay in touch but something went wrong.
Its hard to explain why it took me so long to be able to look anything up, to say anything, I mean its been
nearly four years. . . the best explanation is, I was afraid I was right.
You may not want to hear this at all, much less from someone like me. . .but it cannot be explained any other
way than this. . .I felt him leave I was in a classroom at San Jac. working on a lighting grid diagram for my
next class. . .my stomach dropped out on me the room went brown for a moment and I knew he was gone.
Barely a year since I'd met him, 9 months since our breakup, but mark my words, I knew. Jacob, (despite my
inability to maintain a relationship), had a profound effect on me.
I met him on Matchmaker. Seemingly out of nowhere I met this amazing young man with such a remarkable
attitude about life and REALLY LIVING IT.
Jacob helped me change the way I see and live my life, through his enthusiasm, tenacity and above all his faith.
He was one of those exceptional people who cannot help but touch every other life they come in contact with.
I thank God for having known him.
-Carrie

It has been a very busy week. First, Jacob's PIC line broke and he had to go to the hospital to have it fixed.
While there, he was noftified that they had identified a potential heart for transplant, and would do the
transplant if the blood type and other tests showed compatibility. Unfortunately, the blood test of the
prospective donor showed Hepatitis B (sp) and they chose not to do the transplant. Clearly, Joel believes
Jacob is at the top of the list for the next transplant assumoing right fit for the criteria. Jacob is still in the
hospital, hoping to get out today after they re-install the PIC line. Let's pray for Jacob's continued good health,
a successful transpant and the donor and his family.

Sometimes in this life, you just get lucky. I only partially believe in that. I believe that the Lord put you in my
life and a blessing it was.
A couple of times in my life, I have been totally humbled and rendered speechless in the presence of a person
whose faith shines as bright as yours does. You have been one of those phenomenal blessings in my life.
Today and for the rest of my life, I will stop myself sometimes when I am into stinking thinking and I will ask
myself "What would Joel say or do?". Yes, I also ask myself WWJD. However, when I am ready to
differentiate myself from that divine will power and think of earthly challenges, I cannot escape the notion that
you, Joel Bankston, are walking this human existence and living the WWJD at a higher level than I do.
I do not say that as a way of condemning myself. I say that as a thank you to Joel Bankston for sharing his
faith, his life, and his light-----with me.
God Bless you as you bless others ! God Bless your family and Jacob's special needs.
Thanks !!!

Subject: RE: JACOB HAS A NEW HEART!
Well....... What a mighty God we serve. The angels bow before Him, heaven and earth adore Him. That is
Linda and my song tonight as we give thanks for the many miracles that have happened this past six years as
we have waited. Jacob would be graduating from LSU next week had everything gone as planned. Much
discouragement, much encouragement, much just day to day hanging in there. I'm not talking about me, I'm
talking about Jacob. He is his mom's and my hero! He has endured till the end! He has run a good race and
fought a good fight! Now there is laid upon him a crown for his bravery. No, the fight is not over, but it is the
beginning of a new life with new hope for Jacob as he takes on the rest of his new life with a new heart.
On April 28, 2000, Jacob and his mom checked him into the Children's hospital for the last time. He was
feeling horrible and could hardly breath. After he was settled in his room, Jacob's mom went to our apartment
in Houston at 10:00 P.M. Just a few minutes later, Jacob's heart transplant nurse came in the room and told
Jacob to get ready, she had found him his heart. Jacob's friend Valerie called me in Baton Rouge as 10:37 and
said "Mr. Bankston, they have found Jacob's heart!" I was asleep and didn't believe her so I asked her to
repeat what she had just said. Jacob was calling his mom on the other line telling her to get back to the
hospital. I talked to Jacob and he confirmed at 10:45 that it was true. He put his nurse on the line and she
explained that she had did a triple match on Jacob's blood to the donor blood and it was a positive match
every time. I said, "Peggy, I'm in Baton Rouge, what time will you do the surgery?" She said, "about 1:00." I
hung up the phone and called Jimmy Reno a friend with a plane and he and I decided to me at the BR Airport.
At that time, Matt came in from a date. 10 minutes later he and I were driving to the Airport. We were in the
air at 12:00 midnight. We flew about 128-137 knots and got to Texas Hobby at 1:35 A.M. A guy at the
airport gave me a car and I made it to the hospital just 2 minutes before they took Jacob off to surgery at 2:
00. We talked to the surgeon at 2:45 and he said he was just waiting for the donor heart to get there. At 3:15
they made the first incision and at 10:00 the next morning, they came to tell us the surgery was finished. At 11:
00 A.m. Jacob was loosing 713 cc's of blood an hour(about 2 units) and for the next 12 hours it was
extremely critical. They used every possible method to stop the bleeding and it wouldn't stop. At ~5:00pm
they opened Jacob's chest back up and cleaned out pooling blood and repacked him with gause. The bleeding
slowed to half the loss till about 12:00 pm and then by 4:00 am it had almost stopped completely. I was
sleeping. At 7:00 am, I got up to go see Jacob and he was so different. AT noon today, April 30 2000, they
removed the breathing tube from Jacob and he began to talk, drink liquids and receive visitors. We are not
through yet, but have really turned a major bend and crossed a steep mountain. Thanks be to our Lord that
Jacob is the fighter he is and that Jesus truly is his rock and mighty salvation. Stay in prayer with us as we
progress through the next few weeks of recovery. Have a wonderful Day. Joel

Subject: FW: Joel Bankston's son's transplant --
As of about 9:00 PM last night, Joel Bankston's son Jacob was doing very well. He was conscious,
breathing on his own, and lucid. His transplant heart was functioning well and his kidneys were working.
There were severe problems with bleeding on Friday evening after the transplant. His chest was still open
so that the doctors could work on him quickly. In fact they had to take him back into surgery.
There was one point they almost lost him. Many people learned of the problem and prayed.
The doctors were finally able to control the bleeding and stabilize the situation. I visited with the family on
Saturday morning and they seemed to be doing well. Joel was out moving his son's car. I talked
with his wife Linda and several other relatives who were there. I learned later that they closed Jacob's chest
and removed the breathing tube later that day. He was doing very well by Sunday.
The family seemed to really appreciate the concern that we have all expressed in this situation.

I just talked with Linda Bankston's mother and she said that Joel's son, Jacob, is still doing well. Jacob,
however,
had a very painful night. In addition, there is concern about his body's ability to re-establish its functions after
the
trauma it has experienced. In particular, his kidneys/bladder are not working yet as they should. On the good
news side, the rejection drugs appear to be working.
Please continue to remember them in your prayers.

His condition weakened over the weekend, his kidneys again stopped working and fluid was filling his lungs.
They had to go back to surgery last night. The doctors reinflated his lung, drained a liter of fluid from his chest,
repositioned his heart and placed him on dialysis. He is in recovery, intensive care. Joel and the family are very
weary--they need our prayer support for their strength and for Jacob's recovery. Please join the family in
prayer.

Jacob is still fighting along with the doctors, nurses, and other medical help as they battle numerous problems
associated with the transplant. His kidneys still don't work and his liver is not working now. They continue to
drain fluid from his chest . He has a staff infection. He is conscious and Joel has been with him recently. Jacob
can not talk due to the breathing support but he did squeeze Joel's hand. The doctors and nurses asked us to
pray for them to have the wisdom to make the right decisions on a minute by minute basis. I know you will
respond for Jacob as you have for all these months. God bless.

Jacob Bankston is not doing well presently. He had a relapse last Sunday
afternoon. He developed a staph infection and his kidneys and liver are not
functioning. The doctors had to reopen his chest. He is on life-support at present.
On the good news side, his new heart is working perfectly. In addition, the

He remains in intensive care, but encouraging signs are evident. His temperature has returned to normal---
blood pressure is stabilized--while his kidneys and lungs are still not working, the doctors are hopeful they will
see positive changes in the next 24 hours. They plan to close the chest cavity again tomorrow morning, and
may have to work with one of his lungs before the closure. The family is in good spirits, very thankful for the
support they are receiving. Joel asks that we pray for no rejection (right now he is not taking any anti-rejection
drugs due to his other issues) and improvement in the bottom portion of his lung. I believe our prayers for the
doctors and nurses' wisdom to make the right decision --minute by minute and hour by hour are being
answered--let's keep them in our prayers also.

Subject: Jacob is still battling many health issues
I talked to Joel this morning . Jacob continues to be in critical condition as he and the doctors fight numerous
issues. Very slight improvement in the liver function numbers, kidneys still not working (dialysis will be done
this morning), lost almost a half pint of blood last night when they placed a pic line in his neck. Heart and lungs
seem to be working fine. New issue is increased need for platelets due to blood loss and the body fighting
various problems. He is consuming 3 bags of platelets per day. The family and friends have given platelets, but
that supply is just about used up. The platelets have to be given at the hospital, it's about a 2 hour process. If
any of you all in Houston can help or know others that can help, Jacob and the family will be most
appreciative. They have not closed the chest cavity yet. Joel asks that we pray for any bleeding to stop, that
the platelets will help, and that the kidneys will start to function. No one is giving up so let's not give up on our
constant prayer support.

Jacob Bankston is the son of an ExxonMobil Baton Rouge employee, Joel Bankston. Jacob is 21 years old
and after temporarily moving to Houston almost one and a half years ago to wait for a new heart, he received
it 14 days ago. He has had many complications and problems in the past 2 weeks and is very badly in need of
platelets. He is at St. Luke's Hospital in the medical center. I understand that any possible donors would
need to donate there. I believe that the restrictions are that you have not taken any aspirin or aspirin products
within the last 36 hours and have not donated blood recently. I understand that blood type is not a factor.
Jacob will need donors on Friday 5/12, Saturday 5/13, Sunday 5/14, Monday 5/15, and Tuesday 5/16,
approximately 5 each day. It takes about 2 hours to donate. The approximate times are 8:30AM, 10:30AM,
12:30PM,2:30PM, and 4:30PM.
If you could pass this on to anyone who you know and/or can donate platelets yourself this gift could truly
save Jacob's life. Thank you for anything that you can do.

Joel reports this morning that some slight progress has been made from yesterday. Slight improvement in the
kidney and liver function numbers although they are not working yet. Good news is white blood cell count
good, no temperature, good blood pressure and heart rate is very good, and his lungs are clear and expanded.
Major issue is his platelet count is down--so far random platelets donations versus those from the family seem
to be more effective for Jacob. I know there are several people in Houston who are working to develop
platelet donors or going to St. Luke's to donate. Joel asks that we pray for Jacob's blood to start clotting, for
his platelet count to improve and for kidneys to start working. Let's continue to be there for Jacob and the
family. God bless.

Jacob Bankston's situation has improved slightly. They did not give him platelets
yesterday because his platelet count was up slightly from 59 to 85. The doctors
are waiting to see if this is a trend before they give him more units. His medications
have been reduced and he awakens periodically. They may take the ventilator out

Another day with some improvement. The kidneys have produced a teaspoon of urine for each of the past 2
days! The heart scan results were perfect. They will do the kidneys tests today that they have been
considering for some time. They are hopeful that the breathing tube can be removed today.
Linda and Joel met with the heart surgeon, Dr. Frazier. He said that he had done more heart transplants than
any doctor in the country, and when he saw Jacob on Sunday , May 7th, he did not think he would make 2
more days. The fact that he has survived more than the two days is very encouraging to him. He told Linda
and Joel that he had five concerns-INFECTION-INFECTION-INFECTION-INFECTION-INFECTION.
He said everything they are doing is focused on what impact that could have
on possible infection. He said he was not worried about the kidneys or liver, etc that they could deal with
those issues.
Joel asks that we continue our prayers--for no infection, safe removal of the breathing tube, and continued
wisdom for the doctors treating Jacob.

Subject: Joel Bankston's Son
TO: ALL BRABS EMPLOYEES
As most of you are probably already aware, Joel Bankston, a BRABS employee in the Account Coordination
section has a son (Jacob - almost 22 yrs. old) who underwent a heart transplant approximately two weeks
ago. About one week after the transplant, Jacob developed some serious complications, and has been on life
support ever since.
The last report I received stated that conditions were improving somewhat, but things are still at a very, very
critical state. Jacob is in critical need of blood and platelets, and we have been working with United Blood
Services to assist Joel and his family. They have graciously agreed to supply the hospital with the needed
blood supply thus far.
The Refinery is holding a blood drive at the ETC next Wednesday, May 24 and Thursday, May 25 and we
are asking for as many people as possible to please go and donate in Joel Bankston's name in order to help
replenish this supply. You do not have to be a Refinery employee to do so. Please help us out, and please
keep Joel and his family in your prayers.
Please forward to anyone who you think may be able to assist us in this effort.

Again, there is some improvement in Jacob Bankston's condition. His platelet count
dropped slightly, but only slightly. He was given a unit of whole blood, however.
The doctors took a biopsy on his new heart and seemed pleased with a
score of 3 out of 10. He is more aware and is struggling with the life
support equipment. Some of it may be removed soon.
On behalf of the family, thanks for your concern and prayers.

You guys are mighty prayer worriers and I thought of you as soon as Shannon called! I thank God for the gift

Subject: FW: Joel Bankston's son's transplant --
I talked with Joel Bankston's wife Linda this morning about Jacob's condition. There are some positive
things to report. First Jacob's platelet count is good. The doctors called it a miracle that he was able to
generate his own platelets with all the antibodies that have been injected into his system and all
the antibodies his body is generating. His transplanted heart is functioning very well. However, his liver
is not doing well (billirubin count 17) and he is severly jaundiced. The doctors plan to remove Jacob's
gall bladder today to assist the jaundice condition. His kidneys are still not working and he is on dialysis.
His condition is very critical and the doctors say that they have never seen anyone live this long in
Jacob's condition.
As I believe also, Linda believes that your prayers and expressed concerns have preserved her son thus far.
Please continue to remember Jacob and the Bankston family.

Dear Joel,
I have been praying and thinking of you and your family so much. I heard your son was having some
difficulties; I have prayed so much for his recovery. I do hope you and your family are holding up okay, I
can't imagine how difficult this must be for you. My son, Trace, was wondering if you had a son that went to
Parkview Baptist. He said he heard a boy asking them to pray for his brother and father in Houston, his
brother had heart surgery and Trace was wondering if it was the same family as he has heard me talk about
your situation. My son is in the 6th grade at Parkview Baptist.
We will continue to keep you in our thoughts and prayers. Hope you hear from you soon.

Alan and Judy. Wow! This message was sent back on the 6th of May when Jacob
still had all organs functioning well. 17 days later, 8 of them Jacob was
sleeping with his chest stent open waiting to see if his blood would clot.
Today! Jacob is sitting up, talking, peddling a foot bike and eating smooth
solid foods. Liver still needs healing, kidneys need continued healing and
pancreas needs continued healing. His platelets, only 15K of the 150K he needs
is down again and his left lung is somewhat in need of further expansion. All
in all, the doctors feel Jacob will recover completely over time.
Prayer! The effectual fervent prayer has availed much. Jacob has survived on
prayer this last 17 days and continues to survive on prayer. The doctors have
done all in their knowledge and power and have stated it was the family
support that has brought Jacob through. Each of you are that family support!.
I, Jacob's dad and Linda Jacob's Mom and Matt, Jacob's brother have increased
our family by each of you. You have been faithful in prayer and Jacob is the
recipient of that faithfulness. Please accept our thanks for your continued
support and know that we have come through some mighty battles and Jacob has
received the gold award for his tenacity for life. I love each of you and wish
I could tell each of you personally.
This is my first day back to work in a while so I better cut it short and get
down to business. Thank the Lord for a wonderful employer and an wonderful
network of friends.

they have not been able to pull it out with the needle. Trachea operation is working well. He is able to feed

While Jacob does not feel well, his medical reports continue to look better. Jacob is aggravated, irritable and
just not feeling well--5+ weeks in a hospital bed certainly is a contributor. The soreness may come from doing
too much in physical therapy.
On the medical side, his kidneys via a catheter is producing a good amount of urine. The white blood cell
count is almost back to a level noted when he first went into the hospital. The platelets count is down. They
may take him off the ventilator tomorrow. He passed the swallow test thus allowing him to start taking food by
mouth. The hole in the sternum still has not totally healed.
Let's pray for continued recovery especially with his kidneys and lungs.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jacob produced urine 3 times today! Did exercise on his on accord for over 30 minutes today in
both his lungs. worked very hard! platelets are up to 68 today and LDH (Cholesterol) is down to 215 after
being as high as 1300 last week. Need to continue to pray as Jacob is not quitting at all. He has so much
determination. Thank you all.
We also talked last night and you could feel the enthusiasm of a loving parent buoyed by his son's sudden turn
toward recovery. Prayer is the support Jacob and family need--thanks for you support and determination..

Most signs continue to be good, some improving. First, Jacob looks better(?) thanks to Joel's hair trimming !
His platelets numbers are improved but still low, the kidneys continue to produce urine, and the liver tests are
very good. He still is on the ventilator but they have it turned to the "no assist" mode. He is drinking clear
liquids and eating Jell-O. He has an infection in his blood stream that they are treating with strong drugs. His
attitude is better, but can improve. Let's pray for continued healing especially of the lungs, liver and his blood.

Bob, thanks for the encouraging thoughts and the FRIENDSHIP. Last night was tough, but am finding today
even harder. I went up to the prison to join others in prayer outside the gates--unfortunately Feltus tried to call
me about an hour and a half before the execution. My wife talked to him and relayed his message. He faced
death with dignity and compassion for the families of the victims-he was calm and composed and his statement
was all about his remorse for the crimes he had committed, that he took total responsibility for them and
apologized to the families and hoped they could now find peace from their grief. In the last hours, he, his
spiritual advisor and several friends prayed together and part of his prayer was for Jacob. Am copying Joel
and Eula on this note as they too have been so supportive to me during these times. God Bless.

George,
I am so sorry for the pain and loss associated with Feltus' impending death. I know that this is a very difficult
day for you, your family and of course for Feltus and those who know and love him. I will try to stay often in
prayer these next 5 hours. God is surely going to welcome Feltus into His kingdom. I wish we, as a society,
could learn to be as forgiving as Jesus when he was dying on the cross. Jesus is Feltus' model for forgiveness
and Feltus is truly embracing his cross, imitating Our Lord and Savior. He leaves us physically but remains
with us in the Body of Christ until we someday join him and all the angels and saints to live forever in the glory
of God, The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
God be with you and Feltus.

What is the status of Feltus' execution? Is it still scheduled for tomorrow. My prayers will be with you and

Charlie,
Jacob is scheduled for plastic surgery this afternoon. About the time you get into your office this afternoon in
Singapore. 5:00 pm our time. They will make an incision from about 3-4" below his naval all the way up to his
sternum. They plan to retrieve the left muscle that makes up 1/2 of the six-pack and thread it back into where
they will reopen his chest for the third time. He has an infection that will not heal without this surgery. This
muscle has a huge blood supply. Thats why they are using it. The surgery should last about 3-5 hours long with
recovery of a couple of hours. We'll be sitting this afternoon till midnight till he is awake. His platelets are 71K
this morning. We'll need to concentrate our prayers on this surgery and that he will not bleed. All in all, his
kidneys are healed, his liver is healed, his pancreas is healed, his lungs are working on their own, the brain is
clear and sending all the signals motorically and cognigly and the heart is a champion! Have a great day and
bless the Lord Oh my soul and all that is within me!

I saw Jacob, Joel, and Linda Bankston in the hospital yesterday. Jacob is in
need of prayer for the healing of incisions and wounds which have become
infected. Jocob has spiked a fever this morning. Please pray for wisdom for
the doctors and nurses to respond in the right way to treat the current
problems.
When we saw Jacob yesterday, he was in a lot of pain as a result of the
most recent surgery, especially the wound in his groin area. However, his
face glowed like that of an angel, evidence of God's mercy upon him...Please
continue to intercede in prayer, asking for God's mercy to be poured out
continually and abundantly upon Jacob and his family....Thanks.

Joel reports this morning that Jacob feels alot better--the pain from Friday's surgery is gone. Jacob told Joel
that he had 2 scriptures he was focusing on today--Jermiah 29-11 and Romans 8-28. If you don't know
these, please read them and you will feel joy as you think about where Jacob's atttiutde is today. Joel met
with the Chief Surgeon, Dr. Frazier, last night for about an hour. During this conversation, Dr. Frazier said he
had never seen the kidneys and liver come back the way Jacob's organs have recovered--Prayer does work.
The issue today is what to do about a wound that is in the groin area, that has not healed properly. Dr. Frazier
is bringing in another Plastic Surgeon to review the issue and make a recommendation. Next steps are to take
him off the ventilator, have him eat solid foods, and get up and move around. While these are challenges, they
are nothing compared to what he has faced and what God has healed. I feel this is like running a marathon,
he's just passed the 25 mile mark and the finish line is just around the corner. Let's cheer him on with our
prayer and thanksgiving.

This morning they will operate to close the wound in his groin area. They first need to determine where the
fluid seepage is coming from, correct it, do plastic surgery to close the wound. Otherwise his health continues
to improve.Jacob and family continue to be in good spirits, want to get this surgery behind them and focus on
what it takes to get out of the recovery area. Joel asks that we pray for a speedy and successful surgery.

thankful for --God has healed so much and he's not through either. Joel asks that we pray for Jacob's stomach
to handle food, quick healing from the surgery, strong and active lungs as they take him off the ventilator, and
effective drug treatment as they impact any rejection issues.

Joel reports that he continues to improve. Most periodic medical tests results are encouraging--especially the

ventilator tube would be removed at the right time and that the lungs would stay inflated, fully functioning.

Joel reports that Jacob spent the weekend fighting an infection that caused very high temperature. He was
better this morning as the drugs were helpful. You sense that all are tired of this long battle, into week 8, and
need to be healed and out of the recovery room and on the way home. Therefore, Joel asks that we pray for
no infection, his stomach to process food, and removal of all tubes including the ventilator. Let's make this

Jacob, and then Joel stays with him at night. Joel asks that we continue our prayers for his stomach and
